Join us for the second annual Celebrate Oz! Festival on Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Spreckels Park. We’re proud to sponsor this free community festival filled with children’s activities, music and art.
As part of the 2015 Wizard of Oz Weekend, Celebrate Oz! recognizes Coronado’s distinctive connection with author L. Frank Baum. Baum wrote three books in the Oz series while spending his winters in Coronado over 10 seasons. Many say Coronado was the inspiration for Baum’s Oz books.
The Coronado Concert Band will play as Mayor Casey Tanaka leads the children in a parade around Spreckels Gazebo. Following the parade will be magical musical performances for all ages. There will also be an “Art Under the Umbrella” showcase from local Coronado artists.
