It’s that time of the year when ghost hunters and Halloween enthusiasts book Kate Morgan’s original third-floor guestroom. The room is the most requested guestroom at the hotel.

Kate Morgan is a young woman who checked into the Hotel del Coronado in 1892, but never checked out. According the hotel employees, she said that she was waiting for a gentleman to join her, but he never came. After five days alone, she took her own life.

Visitors have since experienced flickering lights, a television turning on and off, random breezes, abrupt changes in room temperature, and unexplained footsteps and voices. Independent paranormal researchers have also documented supernatural activity in Kate’s room.

Guests have seen Kate in hotel hallways, along the seashore and the in the resort’s gift shop. Visitors and employees routinely witness items mysteriously flying off shelves.

The book, Beautiful Stranger: The Ghost of Kate Morgan and the Hotel del Coronado includes the entire story. It can be purchased through the hotel’s website at www.hoteldel.com.
